To celebrate Little A’s second birthday, Mr. C and I took her to a character dining experience at the Disneyland Hotel. Little A LOVES LOVES LOVES Minnie Mouse. Who doesn’t? I thought that she would love eating breakfast with some of her favorite Disney characters and boy did she have fun!
Reservations are recommended so that you don’t have to wait 30 minutes or more depending on how busy they are. It’s quite easy to make a reservation online. Be aware that they have a 1-day cancellation policy where you will be charged $10/person if you cancel within 1 day of the reservation or do not show up.
We arrived about 10 minutes after our reservation time but we were still able to check in and wait for our table. We paid for our meal and waited 5-10 minutes before they walked us to our table. While we waited to be seated, we took a picture with Goofy in his kitchen. The line was very short for pictures and the photographer took a picture with our own personal camera as well as their professional one.
Goofy’s Kitchen has a buffet style menu with a variety of breakfast foods to choose from. Little A loved the Mickey waffles and pancake. She also ate a good deal of bacon, mac n cheese, and strawberries.
The characters that were at this breakfast were Goofy, Pluto, Minnie Mouse and Chip ‘n Dale. They walked around quite often and took pictures or signed autograph books. They also marched around the dining area to music every 30 minutes or so. Little A saw the characters at least 2-3 times while we were there for a little over an hour.
When we checked in, the cashier asked us if we were celebrating something special. We told them we were celebrating a birthday. Towards the end of your meal, the servers come with a small cupcake and sing happy birthday to you. The cupcake came with a birthday button and candle which Little A didn’t want to blow out.
We really enjoyed our breakfast together. I thought the restaurant was very spacious and my daughter had plenty of opportunities to interact with the characters. She would cry out their names when they were far away but once they got close, she became very shy. She also ate a good deal. Nothing makes a parent happier than your child having fun and eating well! I highly recommend taking your Disney-loving kids here!
Have you ever taken your child to a character dining restaurant at Disneyland? Which one is your favorite?
