Best Time to Take Pictures at the Buzz Wing Wall

by lovestalgia

If you haven’t heard the news, there’s a new Instagram photo op at Disney California Adventure Park called the Buzz Wing Wall! It pays homage to Buzz Lightyears from Toy Story and is the perfect backdrop for the Pixar fan in all of us!

Where is the Buzz Wing Wall?

The Buzz Wing Wall is located at Disney California Adventure Park inside of Hollywood Studios in Hollywood Land. It’s next to the Blue Wall at Studio 12, behind the Hollywood Lounge refreshment stand. Here are some pictures to show you were to find the Buzz Wing Wall.

When is the best time to take a picture?

If you’re like me and want to take a picture in good lighting, without shadows then it’s best to come before 12pm or after 7:15/7:30 (golden hour when the sun is setting.) That might change later on when the seasons change but I found that if I went during the day (after 1pm), there would be random shadow on the wall or on my face. Here are some pictures I took at various times throughout the day.

The wall had plenty of shade from the overhang above. When we took pictures, we were completely in the shade so no odd shadows were on our faces!

The wall still had some shade on it from the overhang BUT when you took a picture, there were spots of sunlight on your face and body.

Afternoon (Around 2:30pm and 3:30pm on two different days.)

As you can see from the pictures below, it gets really sunny during the afternoon. There’s also random patches of shade from the trees near by or from the same overhang and lamp above the wall.

I edited the picture below on my phone to get rid of the shadows! It was taken on the same day as the picture above.

This is probably the best time to take a picture in front of the Buzz Wing Wall. The time might be different as the days get longer/shorter throughout the year and as the seasons change. But during this time, this area is completely out of the sun.

A Disneyland PhotoPass Cast Member was there to take pictures! I don’t know if there is one all the time but he happened to walk over and took some pictures for us. He used flash on his camera for the pictures below.

Now if you don’t really care about shadows or harsh bright sunlight, then go anytime to take a picture! The line is not long. Usually, there’s a handful of people taking pictures and if you search #buzzwingwall on Instagram, you’ll see some cute and creative pictures in front of it!

The Buzz Wing Wall is a great addition to the many amazing photo ops at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. It makes the happiest place on earth even happier.
