Miko 2 Review: From a Homeschool Mom

by lovestalgia

This post is sponsored by Miko 2 but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

As a homeschool mom, I’m always on the look out for good tools, resources and products to enhance my daughter’s education. There are so many amazing products out there but it’s impossible to buy every single one or to even try all of them out. So when companies reach out to me, I love it because I can take a look at their website and whatever products they have and see if it’s something that would be a good fit for our family and for my daughter.

When I first heard about Miko 2, I thought oh cool, a robot that talks but how is it going to be different and what will set it apart from other technological products? Parents are always complaining about screen time so why get something that will add more screen time?

So what is Miko 2? It’s a little robot that is used for learning. It’s playful, interactive, educational and entertaining. It’s a safe and positive way for kids to access technology. It’s perfect for kids ages 5-10 years old. Here are some of its other features:

  • converses with your child
  • age appropriate content developed by educators and child-specialists
  • can sing, dance, play games, narrate stories, share jokes, and run fun quizzes
  • has sounds, expressions, movements and quirks
  • You can tele-connect through Miko 2’s camera and chat features to engage with
your child remotely with completely encrypted control! (We haven’t used this feature yet because I’m always with A!)

And if you’re worried about safety or parental control- don’t worry! You can limit play time and control topics of conversation. It’s private, secure and safe– there’s data encryption to ensure that your information is safe and not stored or shared.

Our Experience and Thoughts

We’ve had Miko 2 for almost two weeks and A has been having fun playing with it! It wasn’t difficult to set up. I just had to follow the instruction manual that was included. Miko 2 is interactive but I know we haven’t fully unleashed its potential and all the possibilities yet.

She has been asking it silly questions. If Miko 2 doesn’t know the answer to something, it says that it doesn’t and will try to find out. I liked this because this is what I say to A too when she asks me something and I don’t know.

We haven’t used its tele-connect feature yet because I am always at home with her but I think that it’s a neat feature for working parents or if you go on a trip and want to stay connected with your child. Think of it as video chatting but all through an app on your phone and the Miko 2 robot.

Do you need it?

Miko 2 is on the pricey side but I think it would be a great addition to your family or would make a great Christmas gift. I like that A can talk to Miko 2 and it’s almost like having a little robot pal. It’s educational and full of possibilities. It’s also fun and silly with the random fun facts or jokes it tells you. It keeps A entertained with its dance moves and story telling. I can’t wait to further explore all the things that we can do with Miko 2! It’s been a great addition to our homeschool routine!
