2018 is about to end and the New Year is coming. There’s so much hope and anticipation that a new year brings. There’s something about starting out with a clean slate that’s so refreshing and exciting. Have you set any goals or intentions for 2019?
Reflection
I’ve been reflecting on the past year and I don’t have a lot to complain about. Most of my problems are seriously “first-world” problems and I know that I am very blessed and lucky to have the life that I have. It’s not perfect but I have a loving family, wonderful friends and also a means to share and express my thoughts through my blog. I’m very thankful for those that follow along on my blog and Instagram to listen to whatever I share. Without you guys, there wouldn’t be a point to all of this.
Self-Care
One of the things I want to do more of in 2019 is take better care of myself. Self-care is a word that is thrown around so often but I really need to take better care of myself by eating and sleeping better. I also need to dress like an adult and take pride in my clothes. I remember when I used to be excited about wearing cute outfits. Now all my energy is spent on making sure my daughter looks cute.
I sometimes judged moms who dressed nicely and took care of themselves. I think part of it was because growing up I was surrounded by women who made themselves almost a martyr once they became a mom. All their time, energy and efforts should be spent on doing things for their family so they shouldn’t have enough time to get all gussied up. But after being a mom for 5 years, I realize when you look and feel good- you’re just happier and in a way a better mom.
Looking and feeling good is subjective to each person- just like beauty. So if someone looks and feels good wearing fur, sequin and red lipstick- let them be. If they look and feel good wearing a t-shirt and jeans, so be it. But usually when I’ve washed my hair, put on some makeup and wear clothes that fit well, I feel better. Don’t you? (And if you’ve been following my Instagram lately, you’ll notice I’ve been on a fur coat and bright lipstick kick and I love it!) LOL!
Add Some Sparkle
In the new year, I just want to continue to shine and bring you guys great content. I want to share about the things we love and continue to be authentic. I’ve also been trying to find outfits to coordinate and match with A’s. I know I won’t have that many more years of being able to “match” with her so I’m trying to make the most of that time. I’ll try to add some more sparkle to my posts (literally and figuratively.)
Speaking of sparkle- these outfits are perfect for New Years Eve or whenever. Just add the sparkle. I know I will. (My coat is from Skylar Yoo but if you can’t find it in your size, there’s a similar one from Target.)
How will you add some sparkle to your New Year?
