I heard about #junkjournaling earlier this year and started a junk journal. (I’ve very behind on it 😂😬)

Junk Journaling is like scrapbooking but less refined and no rules really- you colllect “junk”- receipts, stickers, packaging, labels, scrap, ticket stubs- whatever- and create your page. You can add pictures and write in it- whatever you want.

I loved the idea because you can keep your memorabilia all in one place.

Anyway- long story short- I remember seeing junk journaling accounts on TikTok and even saw that there was a meetup group in LA and wished for one in OC.

Then I saw @junklub_ by @katie.dorame and signed up for the holiday one.

This introvert did the scariest thing- went somewhere where she knew no one. But being true to my introverted self- I observed and vibed 😂😂😂

I loved the scrap fest and can’t wait for the next one.

We made handprint calendars back in 2019 for 2020 and it was such a cute and sentimental gift. I can’t believe how little her hands were. 😭

Sharing how you can make one too!

Materials needed:⁣
📄 Card stock (white and colored for the prints that require white paint)⁣
💻 Computer and printer⁣
🎨 Paint & brush (I used crayola washable paint)⁣
🧼 Wipes⁣
🖊 Black marker⁣
🎀 Hole punch & ribbon or yarn⁣
⁣
The FREE template is linked from another blog where I got it from. (It’s from a blog called things to share and remember.)

How to:⁣
Directions are simple.⁣
Paint your child’s hand/palm according to the month.⁣
Help them by pressing on the palm onto the paper.⁣
I tried to do similar colors or easy ones on the same day.⁣

After it’s dry, hole punch, string a ribbon or yard through it, wrap it and gift it!⁣

I’m about to talk 💩…. literally.. 😆 sharing about my colonoscopy.

This won’t be too TMI but I think it’s important to share that it’s not as invasive and scary as it sounds.

Prior to getting one, I was freaked out. I thought I’d rather not know what’s going on than know. But as I’ve been trying to be better about taking care of my health and being up to date with whatever needs to be done, I thought I’d share what to expect.

Colonoscopies are for people who are 45+, have a history of cancer or if it’s recommended by your doctor.

If you look through the slides, I share about the prep I had to do. Drinking liquids for a day and a half is nothing compared to having peace of mind.

Just be sure to be near a bathroom while you’re prepping because you’ll be besties with your toilet 😬

✨Magic is in the air.. ✨ and for those who don’t believe in magic or whose children don’t believe it or have “outgrown” it, don’t ruin it for those who still believe- regardless of their age. Let those who believe- enjoy it for as long as possible!

Let Santa do his thing.

We went to Disneyland last week and hubs got me a candy cane. We also took a picture with the gingerbread Mickey which is for magic key holders. A great way to start the holidays!

Phone case, phone charm, phone chain- all from Target

Mickey gingerbread charm was a straw clip I bought from Disneyland many years ago. I made it into a charm by taking off the green clip and adding a small gold clasp.

Disney is my happy place…truly.

Even if people don’t understand it and say what a waste of time & money- I don’t care because it’s not their time or money.🤷🏻‍♀️ Let people enjoy what they enjoy.

This isn’t to say you shouldn’t face reality but even on the worst of days and worst of times, being at Disney with those I love, I feel joy and freedom.

Back in June of this year, I decided to finally ta

Back in June of this year, I decided to finally take better care of myself.

I’ve shared before how I have health anxiety and avoided going to the doctors because I didn’t want to know what was wrong with me (if anything) I just didn’t want to know if I was sick or not sick.

I’ve never really had any health issues but after my annual physical & bloodwork, my doctor told me that I needed to make a few lifestyle changes to avoid having health issues.

So instead of avoiding it- I listened.

I made changes in my diet- less snacking, more veggies and protein. Less sitting, more walking. Less avoiding, more proactiveness with my health- I made all my appointments and went to them.

To be honest, ever since the pandemic, I just haven’t felt like myself. I just allowed myself to be in a negative state of mind and it affected me in every way.

I’ve been taking steps to better myself in all ways- physically and mentally. Sometimes that means stepping away from things. Which is why I just said no to a lot of things this year.

Life is short. It’s a journey that’s meant to be enjoyed with those you love.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again- the greatest gift you can give to yourself and to your loved ones is you taking care of yourself and your health. Truly.

Here’s a list of health things I took care of:
Annual physical
Blood work
Mammogram (x2 due to dense tissues)
Colonoscopy (45+)

I won’t know my results for my bloodwork until I take them again next year but by eating better and walking almost daily- my clothes are loser and I feel better.

Take care of yourselves friends- you deserve to be healthy and live a wonderful life. I’m so grateful to doctors I trust and modern medicine.
